Smart Car In Mexico

Hello, or should I say Hola!

I am a newbie ... I am looking for a Diesel Smart Car (used) and was hoping to find one near the California border somewhere.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

If you're lookinf for a diesel one you'll have to look near the Canadian border, there are no diesel Smarts in Mexico.

If you did acquire a Diesel smart, you probably won't be able to register it in California as well as many other states. These cars can be brought in by a Canadian resident on an extended stay in the US for their personal transportation. When they leave, the car is supposed to leave with them. This is how a few diesel smarts find their way into the US.

It would have to be formally imported into the USA by an agency licensed to do such things. Many modifications would be required; maybe including changing the engine to gasoline!
I've had diesel Rabbits and MB (the Rabbits were better than the MB) in the past and would love to have a diesel 450........only a dream in the USA or Mexico.
