Here's my silver/silver 08 cabrio with a yellow/black tridium bar/woody wrap. This is step 1 of a steampunk makeover, turning the car into a retrofuture/neo-Victorian turn-of-the-century updated horseless carriage redesign.
The skin was from Smart Car Skins, and the install from AB Installations in Sykesvilles MD. Total cost was $1,500, a cheaper price than I got from 3 paint shop estimates + 2 estimates from airbrush artists (though it should be cheaper still by using Smart Madness' woody panels if you do not also want to change the car's color).
While this is not everyone's cup of Earl Grey, it is mine. More pix to follow as the redesign progresses. markf
We have contemplated the steampunk makover on the car. The wood outline is a nice start but Some sort of gearing for the inside wood would look better.

I would have like this one - US flag skin - for the James Memorial Day Parade my little car was in.
It would be great with the US military flags I put on the roof using a roof rack.
Here's a minor update to my Neo-Victorian Horseless Carriage makeover of my cabrio - added 'Kleen Wheels' vented dust covers which can be bought like this is a variety of colors. I chose yellow of course.
This is likely the last piece of the exterior mods, am well along with the 1899-ish turn of the century interior changes. Pix on the innards will be posted this summer. Mark F
I got the vented yellow Kleen Wheels from JC Whitney of all places, total cost (including shipping) was about $49. I emailed KW and asked how to purchase a set and they said to go to JC. Ordering them from JC on-line is not possible since they did not list a 3-bolt option, but since I knew KW made them for the Smart, and in various colors, I called the JC order line. At that point they said they never had done an order for a Smart so while I was live on the JC telephone order line I sent the customer service rep the KW link with the Smart items and then she said 'sure I'll order them'. It turns out colored ones are custom made, and my yellows took 3 months to arrive (but JC sent me an update at the end of each month asking if I wanted to cancel the order). Bottom line - they work as advertised, have no scratches in the yellow after 3 months/2,500 mi of use, so I'm happy. mf
