The article, goes on to compare gas mileage stats from the European models and his thoughts on the US Smart's lower mpg. We agree, however what should really be asked is this - why won't Daimler supply the US market with the most up-to-date Smart car automotive technologies? Toyota's doing it again. Their innovative and all new car, called the iQ, may perhaps outwit the Smart Fortwo. The Toyota iQ for 2009, is a kind of a four-passenger Smart For Four. But again government hurdles will lengthen the cars arrival. The iQ needs to be significantly modified, just like the Smart was for American safety standards. Even though it has been confirmed the Toyota iQ minicar will go on sale in Japan and Europe. The Toyota iQ requires improved rear end strengthening. Some suggest eliminating the cars rear seat, making it a two-seater like the Smart ForTwo. We believe keeping the four-seat design will give those who are not fond of the Smart ForTwo's limited seating.

Mitsubishi will be testing our response to their all-electric car at the up coming International Auto Show in New York. Mitsubishi has been researching their iMiEV since 2005. The four-door Mitsubishi iMiEV can travel over 80 miles on a full charge. The iMiEV is smaller than a subcompact, about the size of a four-door Smart car.

Toyota has unveiled a production version of its iQ micro city car at the Geneva Motor Show. The Toyota iQ will be called the iQ 3+1. It was designed in southern France by Toyota's design studio. The design is intended to place emphasis on low fuel consumption, maneuverability and environmental friendliness.
