Reports out of Stuttgart, Germany claim the Micro Hybrid Drive 2009 Smart Fortwo the most inexpensive way of operating a vehicle. Smart's automatic start/stop electronics system shuts down the engine as soon as the driver brakes and the Smart's speed falls below 5mph. No report on if or when the cars will be available here!

The Smart MCC went on sale across Europe in 1999 and in June of 2002 Daimler Chrysler's subsidiary smart Gmbh, recalled 500 of its now very popular MCC Smart's to fix a potential steering glitch. Now Smart USA, the U.S. importer of the Smart Fortwo, is recalling a handful of its USA Smart Fortwo's as a result of a defect.
