In 2003 Mercedes-Benz Canada was alerted that demand for their Smart would be considerable, but nonetheless, demand was under-estimated. Most of the 60 Mercedes-Benz Canada dealers that sold the Smart had buyers waiting months for the Smart and in some cases over a year, even with sizeable deposits.

While Smart USA has not filled us in on all the great accessories to come this 2008, we can likely imagine to see some of the same accessories that have been announced just across the bay from smart GmbH. The United States is the world's largest car market. The potential for the Smart's future in North America is substantial and we hope to have an endless supply of Smart aftermarket parts and accessories.

Before the Smart ForTwo arrived in Canada, Mercedes-Benz Canada had already sold four times as many Smart ForTwo than originally anticipated. September 2004 Canada sold their first smart. After three years and 10,000 cars they are ahead of the initial anticipated sales of only 600 a year. Jim Robinson of SouthAsianFocus.com of Canada reports that the Smart car is "Still fun, still cute and still smart"

The Smart Fortwo just can’t come quick enough and neither can information to tell us hopeful reservation holders when, where, and how we will receive or smart cars. There will be 74 Smart (smart USA a division of Penske Automotive Group) dealers across the country and rumor is, on January 8th the Smart will be arriving at dealer’s showrooms. Earlier reports said there would be 50 to 60 dealers.
