Smart presented a new, environmentally friendly concept car, full of driving pleasure and extremely low fuel consumption at the 2005 Frankfurt auto show, calling it the Smart Crosstown. The first Smart four seater sedans with four doors was called the Smart ForFour and was introduced in 2003. The Smart Forfour was introduced to the media in Zürich, Switzerland, on "ForFour Day," June 26, 2003. Unlike the little "brother," this four-seater sedan was a more conventional car, a real hatchback super-mini with a roomy interior with a four- or five-seat configuration. The four seat sedan Smart was produced at the NedCar factory in the Netherlands in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors, the same factory that produced the Volvo 340 in 1970s and 1980s.
