Most metropolitan drivers will love this car for its nimble driving features, its fuel savings and its knockout design appeal. Smart owners who plan to use the car as a moving billboard will buy it enthusiastically. People with limited resources, but still looking for that trendy transporter,
will be drawn to this car in a way we haven't seen since the Volkswagen
Beetle.
Fuel economy is an obvious plus with the Fortwo.
Official EPA-estimated fuel economy figures for the new ForTwo are not yet available, but the current gasoline-powered European version gets about 40 miles per gallon, according to DaimlerChrysler. It requires premium gas.
The redesigned ForTwo has not yet been crash-tested by U.S. auto safety regulators.
The Smart ForTwo is safe, strong and affordable to many, a performance vehicle for today's city drivers who know that the future is now.

The amazingly versatile Smart car can be driven either stick shift or automatic. Gears are changed using either the stick on the floor or by pressing levers under the steering wheel.
The basic Pure model of this innovative car is priced at $12,000.
The Passion model starts at $14,000. It includes air conditioning, alloy wheels and a panoramic roof - all standard. The convertible model starts at about $17,000. This sporty version features an upgraded sound system and a six-disc CD changer.
The fuel efficiency of the Smart car is an incredible 40 miles per gallon. And you can park it almost anywhere, even in the smallest parking spaces.
Only 2,000 CrossBlades were produced and were numbered consecutively in order to 'emphasize their exclusiveness.'
Based on the existing structure of the Smart ForTwo cabriolet, the Smart CrossBlade was designed to give you a feeling of unbounded freedom.
It was described as a "motorcycle on four wheels," eschewing traditional styling (like, say, no roof or windshield for a true “wind-in-your-hair” driving experience.
Only 2,000 CrossBlades were produced; they were numbered consecutively to “emphasize their exclusiveness.”
The Smart Roadster made its debut at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. By far the hottest of the Smart series, it was sophisticated, stylish, and stimulating. It came in two models the Smart Roadster and the Smart Roadster Coupe.
The efficient Smart Roadster was smarter than you might think - sporty and purist at the same time. Everything felt well-built, engineered for fun, and attractively styled. This was an exotic car that was lots of fun to drive and it came at a fair price.
The final Smart Roadster ran off the production line on November 4, 2005...or did it?
The Smart Roadster (Project Kimber) will live to roar again. The Kimber Group has assembled a team of the very best to revitalize MG sports cars, using technology from the Smart car brand.
Smart’s next concept was its Smart ForFour model, a four-door sedan developed in conjunction with Mitsubishi and built in Mitsubishi's New Car plant in the Netherlands. The ForFour was first introduced to the world in Zürich, Switzerland, on "ForFour Day," June 26, 2003.
As the first Smart vehicle to result from a joint Daimler-Chrysler/Mitsubishi Z-car project, the car was based on the Japanese Colt subcompact.
The Smart ForFour was as expressive as it was functional.
All Smart cars embody driving enjoyment with a sporty touch, but the Smart ForFour was designed to be the ideal alternative to gas-guzzling, poor- performing, and lackluster-looking cars.
An SUV (the Smart ForMore) was also planned.
The Smart utility vehicle, originally scheduled for U.S. distribution in 2006, was at one point, the only Smart model DaimlerChrysler had planned to bring to the United States, bearing the name Smart "ForMore."
The Smart ForMore was to be built in the DaimlerChrysler plant in Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
The plant (Mitsubishi) has a capacity of 60,000 cars per year. In a full sales year, Smart had planned to sell half of these unique vehicles in the U.S.A, Canada, and other core markets.
The Smart, ForMore, a four-wheel- drive SUV, suited to all road and driving conditions, was to represent Smart's official launch to the world's largest automotive market for the first time ever. That launch would never take place.
