Welcome to the forum, Years ago I used to live at Ft Hamilton (closed now) in Brooklyn, loved it! Have fun here in the forum, YOU WILL LEARN ALOT! there are so many knowledgeable people here!
Also a new member here and a new smart owner from Queen,NY good luck paying half price for anything in N. Anyone familiar with any good smart car mechanics. I have to replace my radiator fan and I’d rather go to someone that’s done it a few times.
Give Them a look. I've been have been to the shop talked to them a lot. Have not serviced my Smart there because I have been able to do most Items I've have needed. But this is the shop I have researched and chosen as where I would go if I need a major repair for My Smart here in NYC.
I looked around and manhattan Mercedes would not even speak to me about repairs unless I brought the car in and paid @ $180 to look at it. Only then would they even have a conversation(!)
I am a motorcycle mechanic so I plan to do most of my own service but I don't like getting scammed by stealerships.
I did speak to a tech at Rallye motors that would at least have a talk about my car so if anything call them.
Louie also lmk if you find anyone local who is good. I have a good mechanic here in Maspeth but not sure yet if he will touch a smartie. A fan replacement is really easy though unless it requires a reflash of some kind.
Yes i would never go to the dealer for anything i just take my lease car there cause everything is covered. I have a good mechanic here in Astoria but haven’t worked on a smart as much, other guy i know that worked on them before charges $700 to replace the radiator fan cause you need to replace the front end and fluids a/c compressor etc
