PAG plans to open its local Smart Car dealership, smart center Bloomfield, on Thursday. The first Michigan Smart Car customer is expected to get a Smart car during the event. The dealership is the only Smart Car dealer in Michigan and is owned and operated by Smart USA Distributor L.L.C., a subsidiary of Penske Automotive. The grand opening is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the dealership, 1765 S. Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Hills.
The Smart Pure will cost $15,229.00, the Smart Passion Coupe begins at $18,541.00, and our all time favorite the Smart Cabriolet is $21,588.00.Standard features are the identical to their U.S. counterparts.
All reports from smart USA tell us the Smart Pure will cost almost $4,000 less and priced at $11,590.00, the Smart Passion Coupe will cost $13,590.00 approximately $5,000 hard earned dollars less and you can own a Smart Cabriolet for $16,590.00.
These are huge savings for us Americans.
However, demand for the Smart is intense and with limited supplies, not everyone will be driving a Smart Car any time soon.

The all-new smart fortwo is now on sale
Mercedes-Benz Canada has just announced that the next-generation smart fortwo is now on sale through the brand's Canadian dealers. The first of these new fortwos was delivered by smart Centre Mississauga to Tracy MacKenzie, a 24-year old resident of Brampton, Ontario.
Launched in Canada in late 2004, the smart car was an instant hit with Canadian buyers. Initially designed as a city car, the smart has also done extremely well outside major urban centres.
Actually, in its first three years in Canada, more than 50 percent of all units sold have found takers in smaller markets and rural areas.
The early forecast of 3,000 units was quickly surpassed and, after three years, Mercedes-Benz Canada has now retailed over 10,000 smarts.
The new generation is available in three models: the pure coupe, starting at $14,990, the passion coupe, starting at $18,250, and the passion cabriolet, starting at $21,250. Standard convenience features include a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, a central remote locking system, a leather steering wheel, power windows, AM/FM/CD radio, plus many other interesting amenities and safety devices.

Ottawa announces ecoAUTO candidates
The list of 2008 model year vehicles which qualify for the government's ecoAUTO rebate was released this Friday from Ottawa. The program, ongoing since March, encourages Canadian new-car shoppers to invest in an environmentally friendly vehicle by providing rebates based on the machine's fuel economy.
"The ecoAUTO Rebate Program is one example of how this government is encouraging Canadians to make more environmentally friendly transportation choices.
It also saves them money and protects their health and the environment" said Hon. Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.
The rebate amount depends on where the vehicle lands in a fuel economy scale.
Passenger cars achieving mileage under 6.5 litres per 100km are eligible, as are light trucks and SUV's which return better than 8.3 L / 100km. Additionally, flex-fuel vehicles which consume less than 13L / 100km are eligible for a rebate.
Customers purchase the vehicle and fill out an application form to send back for their rebate, which is paid by the Government- not the dealerships or carmakers.
This year's eligible vehicle list includes the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic, Saturn Vue and Ford Escape hybrid models, alongside the smart fortwo and fortwo cabriolet. A complete list of eligible vehicles is available on Transport Canada's website.
