You mean that you have none of the J1772 measures in place ? The charging plug is hot all the time? That does not sound very safe. Hopefully, you at least have a GFCI on the circuit.

Does the car turn the charger (and battery pack contactor relay) on without seeing a control pilot signal from an EVSE?

And you may say "I plug it in then go inside and turn it on, then turn it of before unplugging." But someday you will forget to do so. And what about a curious kid playing with it or the like?
