Keep in mind that because of the short wheelbase, these cars tend to bounce a bit more than most. This makes the headlights also bounce and people can assume you are flashing your lights at them (when you aren't) I have my headlights a bit on the low side to help this.

I too, have pointed my headlights down a bit because of this. The flashing high beams head on have stopped. Between having projector beams and the bouncy ride, it can definitely be mixed up with flashing high beams.

Maybe it's because so many people in this neck of the woods have poorly aimed headlights and HIDs that they at times seem to be in the majority ... but, I don't recall once having highs flashed at me in my smart.

Or maybe mine are already aimed low.

I regularly get tailgated by fools in big trucks. Usually I'll giggle and ignore them.
Sometimes they'll try to pass me, even if it's a no passing zone and I'm already going ten over. Then they'll brake check me. At that point I'll reply with with a bird and a shot of the clown car horn.

If I'm on a freeway or expressway I'm doing the passing. NOBODY passes me on an expressway!

I do get an awful lot of thumbs up and nods though (much more than tailgaters).

As for HIDs, so many idiots in my area put them into reflector housings...gah...

You've obviously never traveled I-10 through the Florida Panhandle. I've been passed like I was standing still, doing 85 MPH. Way in excess of 100 MPH.

Wowzers! Nobody goes any faster than about 75mph around here. And it's impossible to go any faster than 85mph-ish. There are idiot truckers driving in the far left lanes, the occasional Nissan Leaf going 60mph in a passing lane, several idiots tailgating each other, and of course, several three lane wide truck/bus convoys...

Then to add salt to the wound, the Governor doubled toll rates (the roads still aren't getting fixed either) making it cost prohibitive to travel on the Interstate anyway.

I mean really, who carries $4.00 in change?!?!?!?

I get a lot of people that don't like to be passed by a small car. They either speed up to stop me from passing, or after I have passed them they speed around me at the first opportunity.

The one common denominator for just about every aggressive driver I've encountered with my car these last 4.8 years:
full size FORD pickups.
Why always FORD pickups?

In the case of the OP. That's what your cell phone is for. Call 911 and give them the tag# and report them as a drunk/agressive/dangerous driver and give them the location. In this area they take that seriously.

Making a show of taking pics or vid with a cell camera usually gets them running as well.
