I'm glad you are OK.

I got a similar lecture in 2007 from a US border guard. She asked me why I would risk my daughter's life by driving a puny car like the smart. Moron. That's what I WANTED to say, but I was trying to get into the country.

Thank you all for the support. Although I did mess up Smartie, I am fine and the hospital did more damage than any accident! LOL. A lot of testing to find out why I blacked out no reason yet. Off to the neurologist next week for more.
As for Smartie, I got prices from New Country for front and rear fender, 2 rims, 3 tires and various clips. They have all I need and only 2 day turn around. Looks like I have to order an inner tie rod end online too. Not using my insurance here and very happy to do the work myself.
Im not pursuing anything on the cop. Maybe you wont agree, but I see it like this. I had 3 chances to die that day. Once crossing into oncoming lane, once hitting the guardrail, and once crossing back into my correct driving lane. God has better plans for me than arguing some dink cop! Hope you agree! Cheers to you, my smart and to all the mothers out there tomorrow!

I'm glad to hear that you are OK. I also hope they find the cause of your seizure/black out soon. Not knowing would be almost as scary as the accident if it was me.
Enjoy repairing your smart and getting him back on the road.

Update

Well Smartie is back to showroom new! The guys at Tire Warehouse rock. Slow day, 3 kids each grabbed at rim/tire set. Was in and out no more than 20 minutes.
Next, disassembled the inner tie rod. A bi**h for sure. NO room for a wrench on the hex inner. Finally got it out. Another bi**h trying to straighten it, but I got it pretty darn straight. Going to order a new one anyway monday from Rock Auto, then alignment.
Took a lunch break, the tackled the panels. Can't complain, but not my favorite job. About 3 hours start to finish for 2 panels. Some of that was because I cleaned the inside where the panels cover up dirt. Funny to note: the dealer calls it Cherry red, when the rest of the world calls it Ralley Red. Go figure. Perfect match though.
I had yesterday begun to think of selling it. I've had no less than 5 people in the last week hassling me. Unsafe, buy bigger, get rid of it etc.
So, thank you people here for the encouragement and any info you gave up for me. I'm back to myself now, and screw those who don't like Smartie!
Now off to the neurologist next week.
P.S. I saw online someone made garden hose hangers out of rims. Going to do the same with my ruined Smart ones too!

Don't let those "the car isn't safe" folks get to you. You know how safe your smart is. Mercedes Benz doesn't build junk, IMHO. Just ask them if there car has a roll cage built into it. Unless someone is really interested I don't go into all the safety features any more. Well if they are being a real pain I might just to irritate them.

Just a thought... if you let the jerk cop off, he's going to continue being a jerk to other people. A note to his supervisor *might* change his ways, especially if other people have made complaints - yours might be the one that pushes him over the limit. Your complaint may save others from added stress during their bad times.

The state of Iowa also requires a six month "no drive" period for anyone who loses consciousness. Our son who went into Cardiac Arrest in November just got his driving privileges back.
I think most states have similar requirements for both loss of consciousness and seizures.

Imagine if they counted it when someone gets wasted and passes out on the toilet. Would be a good deterrent for DUI.

!
Tell them so mind their own business and SOD OFF! As far as they're concerned, you crossed several lanes of traffic and smacked a guardrail and came out without a scratch...and since you blacked out you literally had no control over what happened...So I'd say the car did darn good!

Don't let the naysayers convince you to sell just because they are ignorant.

Furthermore, I also second the suggestion about complaining about the officer to a higher authority. Being an officer doesn't give him the right to run his mouth, especially in an emergency situation!

Hope you find out what happened and get back to 100% soon!
