and btw, we've had two of our 08's totaled this year for what we considered relatively minor damage. Many tears shed. My daughter and I were both very attached to "Little Yellow" and "R2D2". I feel ya.

Thanks everyone for the advice!!!

I'm at the crossroads it seems on whether to keep or to give it to the insurance. It sounded like I would get some money either way, but I'm not sure about if I keep it, nor how much....

So I asked about all the accessories I have added, and the first adjuster said to collect my receipts. (I was transferred to a third to review the total loss). They are offering $9700 before the add ons if I read it correctly, which will be minus my $1k deductible, and they would need to pay Mercedes. I am not sure if the add ons would be considered. This is already a lot more than the $4k that I thought and dreaded. I owe $1630 to Mercedes. I asked if it would be better if I should just pay it off, but that was yesterday so maybe I will get a response Monday.

I can go to the bank today and get a cashier's check out if it is a good idea???

So confused......

Ah, I forgot to mention the shop finally quoted something like $8k for the repair.....

(Just last Thursday when I called. I was told the prior Thursday I would be called the day after/Friday! Wow, having a kid really teaches you to be patient!!!)

Not sure of the total damage and if there is frame damage, but on the surface it sounds to me like you ought to take the money and run. You can get a new/used ED or ICE for that.

Thanks Len! NC was beautiful! And I felt like a Ferrari/exotic there with so few Asians around.

I know "they are watching", but I .PDF ed a lot of the repair material in smarttekinfo. I saw that a lot of instructions, regarding repairing damaged tridion for example, involved cutting out the damaged/bent area, buying that particular area, which may be available as a part on EPC, (miss my subscription,) and welding it into place.

I haven't been looking at the smart market for a little bit. Been trying to save some money. The cars just sitting can be "brought back to life", maybe use the money to fix one up.

But I guess I could see what's available. Wouldn't hurt to just look, (unless I fall in love)....

Sent payoff on Monday. Sent receipts for accessories on the vehicle to the adjuster today. Checked my account with MBFS and I'm paid off as of today. (They must be wondering why I paid off my 0% interest loan...)

To be continued....

In Maryland you request a repair inspection. (inspections completed by police) when I did this back in the day they did inspections twice a month before.
No receipts are needed for repair work, but they do look at the damaged area to see the repair work.
After you pass you are good to go.
I've done salvage inspections twice before, very easy process here.

Signed it over to the insurance yesterday, which was Monday local CA time. Insurance did a wonderfully fair analysis the second time and will help pay for the Scion iQ.
