If it was a young groundhog, then it learned to run fast by getting its tail run over a time or two - not many animals have such a broad, stubby (not what you are thinking, Jet!) tail. And yes, beavers can motivate when they have to - just don't try to get them involved in a charity 10k...All they'll say is "Dam Straight" and walk away...
