on the edge..

I already have a Scion xA, and a Miata, so how can I justify a Smart? P.S., I can't trade in either: I need the Scion to haul kayaks, and can't bear to trade in the mx5 ('06), it's too great a car. But have always wanted on of those little suckers ever since seeing them everywhere in Amsterdam 10 years ago...

If you can afford it, I don't think you'll regret buying one. They're great fun to drive and to play with.

I agree, I liked these the first time I saw one and did buy one in october. They are just fun to drive and get a lot of attention where ever you go.

I have a Corvette Z06, a street rod, an English cycle car, a Nissan van, and a smart Brabus coupe. I love them all for different reasons and would not part with any of them. Get the smart for fun, ecomomy, or whatever reason you can justify. I don't think you will regret it.

You could get a kayak trailer & tow them with a smart.

Tough dilemma. My situation is similar but more economically clear cut. I have an '03 Miata that way is too fun with the top down. I uncover and use my Explorer to haul road and mountain bikes. I use the smart for general commuting and getting around. Neither the Ex or the Miata gets the gas mileage the smart does. Twenty MPG tops sucks for the Ex and the Miata on premium barely gets twenty-four (my fault with a lead foot).

Your xA gets great gas mileage with more cargo room than a smart and is pretty fun to drive. If it's a 5 speed, it even has a clutch pedal. I would say you have a tough call. You probably haul the kayak on a roof rack. That's safer than a trailer. I'll go against my forum members and say, unless you want another fun car that is also economical, you don't need another addition.

But... I'm a car nut so I would get another car.

Thanks for your responses, all. Yes, I am a car nut too. Can't help it. 'Sides, life is short! Wish me luck....

Take the plunge

We just traded my wife's '02 Miata in on an '09 Cabriolet and she just loves it.

Regards,

Dan
