Auto Headlights will not turn off in High / Bright mode

Auto Headlights will not turn off in High / Bright position.

Is this normal for a 2016 453 SC Prime?
I live on a dark road and always end up with my bright lights on going into my driveway.
I keep the headlights in auto mode all the time, but when I turn off the key with the headlights
in bright position they remain on until I pull the switch back to low beam position.
Please chime in.
