I hope they meet with the zeroshift people of England along the way and smooth out the tranny. It would be a shame not to include available technology that would eliminate the one biggest complaint about their car.
Home | Zeroshift.com | I LIKE IT! If that upgrade ever becomes available as a retrofit, I'm doing it. Dead tranny or not! Now that would be a true rollerblade experience.

Hello from Germany, BB Benz!

I think, they will use a RENAULT-Transmission developed by their partner NISSAN called JATCO-CVT (continuously variable transmission), because they'll use RENAULT-engines in the future.

The Nissan/Jatco CVT transmission which Nissan says will be
incorporated into its compact car fleet in the near future

I like to think of myself as being 'width impaired'.

I like the idea of a possible CVT being a choice in transmission in future Smart cars.

CVT is bad M'kay! It might be nice and smooth but (fake) gear changes aren't that much quicker and the MPG suffers.

The picture posted by the original poster is over 2 years old and was merely a 451 with hub motors, probably to test batteries.
