Fuel Gauge System

OK, I have several questions about the fuel gage:
1. 7/8th has happened twice, but don't know why.
2. Is the .7 Gal reserve used first, so that the indication you get below 1 Gal. is actual reading of fuel remaining?
3. Last fill-up I was indication .6 Gal. remaining, but put 8.7 Gal. in, so I'm confused about the actual fuel tank capacity. Has anyone else experienced this? Are we just getting ripped off by the gas stations not being acurate?

I got the car as an orphan 11/08 and have 5,002 miles and really enjoy the car, but want to get a degree of comfort with the fuel quantity indicating system. I have looked through the forums and have seen some info, but not about the "reserve" issue. THX!!!

OK, The 7/8 issue when full is well known by smart and while many have had it "Fixed" I don't know if it realy has been resolved. Its not unusual.

The reason Duckhunter responded the way he did is because this issue has been discussed at great lengh with no real resolution.

If you don't feel comfortable pushing it, then fill up when you get to the last bar. One time I pushed it and that next station was further than I thought and I drove in 5 miles past 0.0. It was a 400 Mile tank

It is very acurate ( at least mine is) on the bottom end. That is all you need. Ant that is all I have to say about that.
