New guy from NC - on a smart quest

Hello all,

I'm seeking a 2013/14 Brabus....

I'm doing a nationwide search and driving it home no matter how far and documenting the experience.

It seems that a Brabus is only available in silver or black but nothing a wrap or paint can't fix. IMO, smarts should be light, plus I already have a bunch of silver and black cars

Questions

Can you get a brabus in anything other than black interiors?, that's harder to fix.

Also, I found a very clean one in San Diego, but it has a turbo installed, is that asking for future problems or a nice solid upgrade? I plan to put 200k miles on it as it will be used for visiting family and friends for many years.

Thanks for the insights

Ted

to SCoA!

Any reason for those years? You could order a new 2015 now or wait several months and probably be able to order the next generation (C453) fortwo Brabus with a factory turbo setup - that hasn't been officially confirmed yet but we should know by the New York Auto Show in April.

I think because I like being on other end of depreciation and the sales tax hit. Plus, I'm looking for one that someone really loved and put some money into it. Also, I don't like first year models. Add it all up... 2013 is my target quest, but would go back to 2011... Why not 2009? I hear 2011 was the first year of factory cruise. I may be wrong since I'm very new.

Question

What are the main differences of brabus vs passion? Is it just cosmetic?

Essentially. What we got in 2009 was the Brabus sport kit (although it wasn't advertised that way) - body kit, wheels, tires, suspension, exhaust, different front and rear fascias, some unique interior trim and lots of Brabus decals/badges. Basically a passion all dressed up.

Well then, I'll look for the fanciest passion possible (more color choices) and have fun with tasteful dressings

Are 2009's essentially the same as a 2013 other than the badge being in the grill?

Why do some have the pod gauges (RPM, CLOCK) and some not? Can they be added?

Btw, I can't seem to locate the classified section on this site. I must be doing something wrong. There has to be someone here looking to move on to a '15. ;)

Pods were an option - one of the few that can be added later. The marketplace forums are here: Marketplace - Smart Car Forums

The badge in the grille and new front and rear fascias are the major differences, although some say the 13s and later years have a better ride.

If you want the sportier suspension and better wheels, you would be better off (and have more exterior colour choices) by buying a Passion and then installing better (aftermarket) suspension and your choice of better wheels and tires. I have a Bilstein coilover kit on mine and it makes the car work the way it should have from the outset.

The various interior and exterior appearance items are Brabus only.

The North American Brabuses have the same engine as the standard models, so there is no advantage there.

As for cruise control ... You want the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. For some odd reason, Mercedes allowed a choice of either cruise control, or gearshift paddles, but not both. So what you really want to do, is buy one that has the gearshift paddles and retrofit an aftermarket cruise control; there are a couple of choices out there. I am not sure but I suspect the Brabuses are shift-paddles but no cruise control.

Happy hunting ...

The 2009 Brabus was only available in all black or all silver. When it was re-introduced later, it was also available in all white. I have a friend with a white/white tridion. It is a stunning car. It also has factory cruise and no paddles and is a 2014.
