The old model doors sound like junk, when you closed them. Even worst in extreme cold weather. That one thing the IQ had over smart. A nice solid sound when you closed the door.

I really surprise smart still using rear drum brakes. Even with fins, pretty old school. It nice smart got away from projection head lamps too. Like it now, their using 4 lug wheels. Nice rear cargo lamp too.

See, you got your question answered in an actual video. FWIW, the 453s at the Paris show felt exactly like 451s to me - getting into them felt the same as getting into our 451. Door "sound" is pretty subjective, but I didn't notice a change from the 451 to the 453 - sounded the same to me.

It is nice to see the full fillup in part of the cell now and not in cased in the plastic. Or did I see that wrong?

Ohh... durrrrrr.... For some reason my mind was thinking that the rounded cutout was at the equivalent position on the left side of the car (meaning the square one couldn't be a hinge), but of course now I see it's around the middle... It's a good thing that this external brain power is available...

Don't know if we'll see this in the US or not but the standard steel wheel model is still around:

Wait, why? Reflector headlamps are a step backward. The 451 fortwo was one of the first inexpensive cars to offer projector headlamp technology. Something that took a few years before other automakers caught up.

Now, you can even get a full on LED experience on a lowly Toyota Corolla, something that was once only reserved for ultra-luxury cars.

Note: It's really my only nitpick about the 453...though, not a dealbreaker... It's just that, as someone who's in the tech field, it confuses me to see a company take a step backward for no good reason. It would be like if Samsung made the Galaxy S5 a 3G phone instead of LTE.

Sadly, I bet it's just a cheap cop-out to introduce new lighting for the facelift 453...
