2011 brochure says this car is clutchless???

Really? Page 10 in brochure (page 12 on pdf)

In stop-and-go traffic typical of city driving, changing gears should be easy. And it is,
with the smart fortwo’s clutchless automated manual 5-speed Transmission—called the
smartshift® Transmission—which takes the strain out of changing gears.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. As a driver you don't have to press the clutch. No clutch pedal-clutchless. As a guy who does his own maintenance- wtf you liars.

Maybe clutch pedal-less is the correct wording.

Actually I'm creating my ad for the car and looking for technical specs when I came upon this.

"automated manual transmission" is accurate.

Many people get the term clutch and clutch pedal confused. and this is why. Manuals often say to depress the clutch, not depress the clutch pedal. Same with the accelerator as opposed to the accelerator pedal. a case of simple lazy English or shortcuts.

smart is just as bad when they say there is no clutch, they should have said there is no clutch pedal.
