How many keys

Just wondering how many keys one gets with the car? What is the cost of additional ones?
Almost ready for delivery, car is in the US and it takes forever to get it to the dealer. DDE moves every single day one day away?!?!?!
Not too happy about it. Original agreement with the dealer was on pick up tomorrow 4/11 and now they even do not have my Smart;-(

I picked mine up two days ago. I got 2 keys. I know its frustrating waiting for your car, but its worth it. My salesman didn't know how much a new key would be when I asked him. Have fun!

New smarts come with two keys. By all accounts, a spare key (which must be ordered from the factory - so DON'T lose yours!) will run about $300.00.

Plus (according to the service manager at my dealership) you have to take your car and both keys that came with it back to the dealer to have the new third key encoded to the car.

smartdigger.... where did you get that and was it at time of delivery? or did you buy it later? wonder if I can get one now that I have owned the car for 16months now.

I got it from the dealer at the time of purchase. Easton offered the key replacement and the extended warranty. My wife lost he key to our vibe in a snow storm, which made me think it would be a smart purchase. We got a new key and remote on E-bay ( does not have the chip)

Salesman lied.....he knew.

"Don't know" is inexcusable customer service, the correct response is "I will find out and get back to you".

"Don't know" is usually prohibited for CSRs.

Daimler should mandate a scripted response to "How much for a replacement key" since the parts guys and salesmen are playing dumb.

I hope the used car value guides ding $500 when a SmartCar has only one key.

My time is worth something, and since the blades and fobs are not a stocked item, getting a key is at least two trips to the dealer.
