Never rains in southern California?

How are all the west coast SCOA folks doing? Looks like some bad weather has hit.

I am staying dry working from home this week. But it's quite bad here. There was some mandatory evacuation this morning in some areas. Yikes!

So Cal. Weather:

The storm started as we were heading North on PCH in the Huntington Beach area while on the Smartmadness sponsored smarts & coffee tour. Luckily, we were heading to the late lunch stop and we were able to enjoy the tour in favorable weather. This same area we toured through was hit by a toronado that overturned a Ford Explorer and damaged some watercraft and buildings.

The people in the hillside areas near the Station Fire are under evacuation as the debris basins are filling up and mud and debris could inundate their homes. This situation is serious and other areas of the LA basin could also flood. We are expected to have a few more days of heavy rain.

I have found out that the smart handles real well in the rain. I especially like the auto/wiper feature which also automatically turns on the headlights. The car is comfortable and stable in heavy rain.

We really appreciate your asking how things are going in the LA area and hope that everyone makes it through the storms without any further property damage.

Hey I love the rain! It has shown me one more thing I love about my lil smart. I never knew that when the wipers are on, they switch to intermittent when you come to a stop. I thought the wiper motor broke the first time that happened today. LOL

Well, right now I have a crew cutting up and removing the 30' tree that was blown over in my back yard sometime early Monday morning. Never liked the tree anyway, so not a big loss! :>) I was fortunate! Our power went out for a couple of minutes and then came back on. A lot of folks here in western Washington weren't so fortunate. They were without power for awhile! :>(

North of SF we've had some big winds and heavy rain bands. The Smart did OK coming across the Richmond Bridge these pas mornings in the 35 mph crosswinds.

Mine has done fantastic in the rainy weather in SF driving to my office in Alameda. While other cars were being pulled to the side by deep puddles and aquaplaning, mine was chugging right along in a perfectly straight line. Gotta love that ESC and those skinny tyres
