Removing Interior Door Panels?

Has anyone removed the interior door panels, I want to upgrade the speakers from inside (not take the door skins off). It was pretty straight forward on the 451... Looks like is may be a tad tougher, because the speakers are under the 'bubble' where the speaker holes are?

I read that you have to remove the exterior door skins to remove the interior door skin.
It was on the 453 facebook group.

the guy did it to install red leather interior.

Here is what he said

"To remove the door card:
First, the hood comes unfastened, then the wings, then the outer part of the door, and only after this is access granted for dismantling the door trim, for further gluing"

Correct, outside door skin needs to be removed in order to pull the interior door panel since it kind of sandwiches the whole door together. Once the skin is off, there's a screw behind the triangular trim piece the window switches attach to. You'll have to disconnect the door latch cable, but after all that, the interior door panel comes off with a good tug to release the clips.

That's what I had to do, both doors and front bumper panel I left the 'hood' on. I drove for two days with it that way... Boy did I get some looks! It was not a fun job, but I finally have great music inside my 453.
