Did you ask them to be more specific?

I brought the car in when my wife told me the ABS light lit. I drove it and the ABS would cycle at inappropriate times. The service department plugged in the computer replaced parts it said where bad and the problem is still there.

I am not convinced the replaced parts actually failed. A mouse living in the cars com system seems more likely to me at this point.

We shall see

Karl, how many miles are on you car. You do have a power steering rack? Sure would be nice, if there was a after market service manuel for the smart cars.

my car is an 08 with the comfort package, yes on the power steering. The car was headed into year 4 without a problem until this came up. There is a pay for view manual online still, is there not?

Car has just under 40K service is due, dealer quoted me $540. for that. Seems a bit much.

Karl, go to smartusa.com. Click on full website, owners, operate and service your vehicle, maintenance schedule. You will be able to see what all is included in the 40K service. We did our own so we avoided the dealer cost.

Yesterday I got a call that yet another $700. + part was needed to repair my car.
The tab for this visit is over 3 thousand bucks at this point and it still needs to get serviced for the year. Wonder what is coming next...

The loaner runs great. will probably have a thousand miles on it when I give it back

YIKES!!! I'd be fighting that bill big time. Somebody is trying to take you to the cleaners.....

Sounds to me like they really don't know what is wrong. That's the problem these days, there are no trained mechanics anymore, just highly paid parts changers. Eventually they will change enough parts that it works, and then stick you with the bill.

I don't know if they are trying to take you to the cleaners or not but I would definitely ask for an accounting of why each part is needed. I know parts are expensive but it seems like they have had to do more to your car than they should have.
