smart center Englwood - NJ

Hello,
My name is Michael Hill and I am the Brand Manager for smart center Englewood located in New Jersey.

Our dealership just had the exciting opportunity to deliver the first smart car in America! This was filmed by the Today show at our dealership last Wednesday. It is set to air on 1/23/08 I will let everyone the exact time. It will also be shown on CNBC

I would like to invite everyone to feel free to ask any question that they might have about their new smart car. If I do not know the answer I will try my best to track down the answer from smart USA.

Currently our dealership is putting together a panel sharing program that will enable our customers to register there current color and select which colors that they would like to trade for. I will let the group know when we implement this new program.

I will also continue to update everyone with any exciting news that I hear coming down the pipe line. I will list my dealerships contact information below.

Actual price paid at Englewood Smart Center located in New Jersey

Lojack Cost = $1395.00 + tax
Window Etch = $399.00 + tax

Well, I just took delivery last night from Englewood and I had to pay $795 for LoJack and NO window etch....

$795 still a high price to pay for LoJack. They assured me that the $1395 LoJack price that I paid was below average price. Actually looked me right in the eye and said that it was below average price for this vehicle.

$1794.00 - LoJack + Etch
$107.64 - Tax

$1901.64 - Total

adds up to a very hefty price.
not so smart.

I bought my passion coupe from them back when the DDE said mine wasn't arriving until 2/09. They were very upfront about selling orphans with the "add-ons" that increase their profit. Mine came with the extended warranty, tire damage warranty and lojack for approximately what it would have cost to buy one on eBay. At least that way I'm getting something for the extra $. Marilyn and Michael at the dealership have also been responsive to questions, etc. - BTW, about 2 weeks after i bought the car, the DDE changed to say that mine will arrive within the next couple of months - perhaps it's time to be a two Smart family

I don't mind getting something extra and paying a fair price for it. It is not fair for smart center Englewood in New Jersey to charge almost $2000 for basic LoJack and Etching on a Smart Car. I know that this is one of their 'tricks' in getting around the strict rules that Penske put in place for all dealers to follow. They were not upfront with me and flat out lied. Actually looked me right in the eye and said that the LoJack price was below average for this vehicle. Dealers should not compare their prices to what the prices are listed for on eBay. I'm pretty sure that's why they have rules to follow.
