You can get different style trailer hitches that will either raise or lower the height of the ball as needed. I have done a lot of trailer towing over the years and I have always kept my trailer level by buying the correct drop or lift depending on the tow vehicle.

try looking into what Z06 mentioned, but if you have any further questions about our lift kit, let us know!

could you provide us with a link possibly to the hitch you're talking about?

Ball height is fine, the curt receiver scrapes on some speed bumps in my area, rather tall speed bumps.

I don't have a hitch on my smart. I was referring to several pickup trucks over the years that I have pulled enclosed car trailers with. If the truck sits fairly high, you can buy a drop hitch to put into the receiver to level the trailer. I even had a Ford pickup years ago that was fairly low and I had to buy a raised hitch to fit the receiver to level the trailer.

I think the issue ArthurRW is having is the actual hitch is scraping on some speed bumps.

we don't have many customers that tow things with their smarts, but I will get as much information as I can for your Arthur and see what we can do!
