MADNESS Autoworks 1967 Morris Mini Woody Wagon

Here at MADNESS Autoworks, we love creating unique projects with unique cars. We are building a performance based Morris Mini Woody Wagon here at our shop, designed to be a car to take out on Auto X and other light tracks days to have lots of fun in! Still a work in progress, we are unavailing our hard work and dedication at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas as a Turbo By Garrett (by Honeywell) Feature Vehicle as well as the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

The doors getting filed down for the panels.

The heart and soul of the Woody Wagon; Honda B16 motor Turbocharged with a Turbo By Garrett GTX3067R. Looking to push out close to 500 HP!

Big thank you to Turbo By Garrett for supporting our project with an agressive GTX-R Turbocharger!

Steering column and wheel installed earlier this week.

After getting sanded down by hand and bathed in acid, we are set for paint after some other components come together.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer and closer to completing a unique blend of performance and Classic Mini!

500 hp? That's going to be quite a handful. I assume you're not going to be using stock tires? ;)

I really hate to mention this, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side?

Wallace...how wrong you are...as in the picture...it is on the RIGHT side...not the left side. Therefore it is not on the wrong side if it is on the right side. It is simple everyday English that would never be confusing.

My 66 Morris Mini has the steering wheel on the RIGHT side and we get strange looks when they pull up on our left at a stop sign when Jan is holding a large box on her lap instead of a steering wheel.

We replaced the rear sliding windows with a sheet of metal with our company logo engraved. A colorful display of LED lights brings the logo alive!

A few more adjustments to the Magnaflow Exhaust being done.

Our gauges have finally arrived! We chose the American Muscle Collection to really tie in the classic steam punk vibe. Huge thanks to Auto Meter for supporting our SEMA build!

Close up of a gauge.

We have lowered the Mini to give it an aggressive stance look and feel. We have also replaced the floor and coated the interior with Lizard Skin. Looking forward to getting the seats in, which will be upholstered with brown leather.

Big thank you to Our sponsors Turbo By Garrett and Auto Meter for support with our project. If you are attending the SEMA show, please make sure to drop by and say hello. We will be at the Garrett feature car booth. For the LA Auto Show, we will be at Kentia hall, right in the middle.

While this is a great project and I'm sure will turn out to be very impressive, I always hate to see a classic Mini modded to an extreme instead of being restored. There aren't that many surviving Mini woody wagons left.

On the other hand, it makes the car that much more unique.

3 days left and we're running on all cylinders here at MADNESS!

Current to do list:

Re-engineer and fabricate a complete new front suspension due to clearance issues
Install a complete 40+ year old wood kit (Fragile)
Finish custom making a wire harness
Clear coat doors
Install carpeting
Finish the dash and gauges
Install windows
Install molding and rubber trim
Finish seat upholstery and install
Finish and install dash trim
Finish rear inner fenders
Fabricate and install engine cover
Plus a number of other things

The goal is to have it finished by Friday and on the way to SEMA on Saturday morning. Should be fun!

Boris, Rachael and the SM Team will be turning some heads at SEMA . . .

Now if only you could give us a temperature gauge solution for our 451 smart?
