P2177 System Too Lean Off Idle Bank 1

ok so i know we covered this when i went to Lincoln Tech, but i think it was on the day i got a new phone to play with during class. I was sitting at a red light and it turned green, i began to accelerate and my engine light popped on. I went to Advance Auto Parts and used their scanner. It said two codes of something like: system too lean off idle. I dont remember the code exactly but erased it. Then about a week later it does it again same conditions i am going back to AAP to scan it and will write down the codes. Based on that what do you guys think? oh and i am right at 30k miles.

Sounds like your not getting enough fuel enrichment off idle. This could be caused by a few things, most of which can get expensive. Just curious, since you are at 30K, have you changed your plugs yet? Although I would think poor spark would lead to a rich setting not lean. Try running a bottle of injector cleaner through your next tank.

After that, it gets expensive, possible low fuel pressure, possible bad injector, ect. Having the exact code will help.

Hope it's an easy fix.

Had that happen on my Expedition a fewtimes. Once it was a melted vacuum line the next time it was from the kid adding oil and he didn't put the oil cap back on. Found the cap on the battery.

Normally the smart tends to run a bit on the rich side of things from what I have seen.

lean is too much air or too little fuel, right? For some reason I did clean and recharge my drop in K&N, but wouldn't a dirty air filter mean less air, therefore rich condition? And if the filter were to restrict the air, a sensor would pick it up and compensate before getting to the engine. I have not changed my plugs yet but plan to. If the plug didn't ignite the contents of a cylinder, wouldn't that let excess O2 pass to the exhaust, therefore creating a lean reading. If its the injectors...

Lean would be too much air, not enough fuel. A leaking or disconnected vacuum line, or oil cap missing will allow air to get in after the map sensor and lean out the mixture. Could be a leak in the exhaust system too.

I'd look for a disconnected hose first.

Gas pedal assembly?!? That should have nothing to do with the mixture...
