Any Roku users here?

I broke free from DirectTV. Had them for 13 years but it was getting too pricey. With my fresh start on attempting to actually retire young and do odd jobs here and there, I've essentially taken a pay cut and am sitting at making about 1/8 what I used to bring home. Needed to trim the fat and DirectTV was it.

I've had the Roku for about 3 weeks now and it is great. Not as great as the DirectTV was, but once I am weened off of it I should be good. Main thing is I am getting so much more done around the house since I am not sitting on my rear watching TV.

For those who don't know:

I don't really watch TV at all. I guess I just don't really see the point when I could be doing something interactive, as in using a computer.

Is that similar to AppleTV? (seems so, but I've only taken a cursory look)

It is similar to AppleTV. Uses WiFi to stream shows of your choice.

Same idea here - to dump Time Warner cable. Local HD channels no problem with an antenna, but the HuluPlus offerings seem pretty limited (for us BBC America fans) so I'm holding off. Had to choose between Netflix streaming and DVDs, stayed with DVDs due to more selection (including lots of British movies and TV series.) The Roku boxes seem to be the way to go if the online content ever improves. I'm with you - would be better off just to drop TV entirely, but...

fyi - I have an Apple TV, but hardly use it since I dumped Netflix. I do like it though. Still looking to get rid of cable in the future.

That is what I am having a problem with. BBCA. Missed Primevil tonight, don't get me started on missing Dr.Who when it comes out. We'll pay for each episode when it comes out.

I have streaming Netflix, also Amazon. Lots of neat stuff on this thing.

+1 for no TV and for Roku. Don't watch much, but it does have movies (free with my Amazon Prime membership) and a good variety of news stations 'tho not BBC. For the rare occasions I watch, it works out great.
Oh, and, at least if you have wireless internet, the setup couldn't be easier.
