someone just sent me the installation thread about installing the camber wedges.

it was from 2013, so I realize that the 'kits' are history but I still would like to change my camber. is there a Plan B/

    Some questions:

What alloy would you be using? Would you doing any heat treat processes? You say pressed in inserts. Everything I know says "hell no" to the stress that's oils put into the spacer, but I understand also that you may be using simpler terms for my benefit. Do you mean key inserts, or actually just pressed in knurled inserts? If you are dumbing it down for me, you don't need to.

You are asking for what amounts to basically the same price, and going head to head with what is arguably the best spacer made today. I just want a reason to be confident in the product you are offering.

I'm not messing with you, or trying to give you a hard time, but I also don't want to wind up upside down in a ditch for mindlessly buying American.

    Hi Paul,

Are you talking about when making a comment on a photo in photo gallery? I did a test comment with and without quote. Neither posted. I don't know where they went. Is this what is happening to you?

    Thanks,

    Hi Paul
John w ith the Melon Green smart from Canada . I hit a recap from a semi tonight which did a lot of damage to the front of car. Wondering what size wrench I need to take my spikes off.The car got towed to Mercedes and I want to take the spikes off so I can tow it to a bodyshop for repairs. Hope motor is ok ,it got hot enough to have temperature light come on

    Hi there !
I have a question, and I cannot find a recent post to make sure I don't buy the wrong parts. I trust your opinion most. I need new rotors and pads soon 40k. I have a guy at work to install.

I want to know what the best place to buy rotors and also ceramic pads. (I thought I heard Autozone had the best pads, but not sure exactly which pads.) I read that drilled and slotted rotors wear pads and make noise ?? Am I better off with a plain rotor ? I don't want to buy a crappy brand that will warp etc.

Where should I buy rotors and pads.

    THANKS for any info ,
    Curt

Paul .. I have a question .. I have bent a front wheel , just the lip , no wobble or vibration.. I think now may be the time to put 2 rears on the front .. Does the rear fit with no issues ??
and do you know of anyone that may have 2 rears ,or just 1 front for now ?
    Thanks !!

Hi Paul, Steve wasn't in today but will be there tomorrow. If you have the blanks already, send a picture of them to [email protected] If you don't you could call Steve tomorrow at 951-369-7266 and talk to him. They can do Toyotas. Tell him Stretch referred you to him.

Did you machine a whole wheel from aluminum? How about the 4 lug mustang aluminum spare? Seen those at pick a part. Weld up the holes, surface and redrill smart pattern?

I picked up a pair of 914 calipers for $40 at pick a part this morning. I'll sit on them for a while. I'll find a pair of rear hubs, front rotors and rebuild the calipers. Then it'll be a week end project. If the bracket turns out simple enough I'll have my friend cut a bunch out on his plasma cutter. Sell just the brackets and instructions on what to get and do. My Mustang's rear discs were like that. I bought the brackets and sourced the Cadillac Calipers and lincoln rotors my self.

Hey Paul, when you get a chance can you answer some questions for me. The rear brakes, are the drums one piece or do they slide over the hub and fastened with the set screw? Do the backing plates have the seal in them or is it separate? I can get a set of 914 calipers that are set up for solid discs and have E-brake provisions. You may guess I am thinking of a poor mans 4 wheel discs. I have done it on VW's before. I was wondering if there is a hub in the rear that the front discs will fit over or can be machined to fit over. All that is left is making a bracket to attach the caliper to the 4 holes for the backing plate. Are the 450 rear brakes the same as 451? Do you have a set of of Frankensmart and would you part with them? Thanks for your time and hope you had a great time at the ralley. Ron

Hey Barney, ClearwaterZiggy wants me to change his exhaust. I haven't had one out on a smart yet. What would you estimate labor time wise?

    Hi Paul,
Can you tell me the torq specs for all the bolts to install wedges?
There is an axle bolt, and the other 4 bolts right ? I know that the wheel studs are 81 ft pounds.
    Thanks,
    Curt

    Hi Paul,
I decided to order a Wedge Kit at Smart Madness today (although John there, tried to talk me out of it saying that it could make the car less stable in hard cornering), I realize they have instructions listed, but is there a video, or DYI photos showing how to install them ? Since I live in a high rise condo here in Atlanta, I have very limited ability working out of a sloped parking space in the parking garage. (I am trying to figure out if I should do it, or sub it out)
    Thanks !

Hi, I just put 2 and 2 together. Barney O-BMS. Boris gave me one of your mounts for the 450. Nice item. Couldn't get the old one off. Well I could, I just didn't want to take it apart that far. Now I understand the machine work, shop and resources. The respect on the forum. I am humbled. Keep up the great work. Thanks, Ron
