Well my 08 smart started pouring out white colored smoke and lots of it, then started bucking and running rough. After accelerating the smoke cleared and the car ran great until I stopped and restarted again. Compression test was 175 on all three cylinders, spark plug very fouled, changed plugs but still same smoke and bucking. I took it to the Orlando smart center and they determined it had a blown head gasket. Machine shop said all guides and seals were bad, needed a new head because they didn't have much luck rebuilding this head. New head, valves, PCV, thermostat, plugs, gasket, antifreeze, oil, oil filter, smog pump, and some other essential parts, and pieces, plus labor brought the bill to $5005.69. As you know this is a little more than the resale of the car but I am kinda fond of the little bugger with 129,347 miles. They did give me a $516 discount. Come to find out, they had to pull the engine to do this work.
