  2. What did you do with your smart today?

    smart General Discussion
I can't believe that this thread I started over 4 years ago is still kicking. :) OK, I'll play again. Replaced original spark plugs @80K with iridium ones, and replaced original battery with a Optima Red Top.

From this video it looks like they pulled the car from the passenger side. Harness is attached to the top of the roof beam of the convertible. They cover that area during all the angles, but you can see it when car falls to the side @0:11.

Larry, Thanks for your input. If you can find the part number for the O-ring that would help. And yes, I already have MB sealant. Thanks again.
  7. Oil Pan Replacement Question

    smart General Discussion
I rather be safe. :) I will need to drill the hole in the oil pan to drain the oil next time. There is no way I will be able to take it out. On the side note, looking at the new oil pan, it looks like sucking the oil from the top will get most amount of oil out, then just drain it out.
  8. Oil Pan Replacement Question

    smart General Discussion
Got the new oil pan. Will replace it on the next oil change. At the present time I just used high temperature cold weld on the drain plug. I cleaned the thread hole and drain bolt and filed the the oil pan and the bolt lip with a metal file. If you do that, do not use a washer. With a little...
  9. Oil Pan Replacement Question

    smart General Discussion
I do not use torque wrench (maybe I should) :) I always use short handed ratchet wrench. But even with tightening the drain plug by hand, I always needed to use breaker bar to take it out. I think it is something to do with temperature. Usually I tighten the plug when engine almost cold, but...
  10. Oil Pan Replacement Question

    smart General Discussion
From my understanding, Helicoil / timesert are not very effective as repair method for the oil drain plug.
  11. Oil Pan Replacement Question

    smart General Discussion
Hey! Oil change went wrong. Over-tighten the oil plug and stripped the Oil Pan threads. Most likely I will JB Weld the plug and drive for the next few month till the next oil change, and then will do the proper fix. Already ordered new oil pan, plug and sealant. Looking at the Pan it...

Color coordinated paddles. Much easier to use the paddle shifters when turning the wheel. Red/UP, black/DOWN.

    smart center Dealerships
I actually paid cash.... Green paper ones.... I tried to pay wit a credit cards first, so I can get rewards points (I pay my cards in full every month). Unfortunately, dealer allowed me to charge only $1500 to the card. Rest was a cash. Next time it will be certified bank check. Wasted time to...
  16. Paint Stock Rims

    smart General Discussion
Shop around and get it powder coated. Especially if you planning on keeping the car. If my memory is correct, I paid $50 a piece to powdercoat my stock wheels, and $75 a piece for the 17" Genius wheels. And this is for the DUAL colors. Stock: 17"

    smart General Discussion
Normally I am driving smart in "Manual" mode 100% of a the time. Unfortunately, I am unable to do that lately, and keeping the car exclusively in "D". .....and you know what? It is not so bad....... :)

  20. Electric Drive...FOR SALE?

    smart General Discussion
$45K sound not so bad, when you compare it to that! Snapped this photo couple weeks ago at the Wheego Dealer. That particular car was already sold to the customer and waited for the pickup.
