I am trying to get a new set of tires for my 2011 smart fourtwo passion. The current set is 155/175 but the place i am trying to get them do not have them in stock. I am wondering if it is possible to use the 165/195s instead which is what tire rack gives as an alternate fit. I think they should fit the instock wheels? Does anyone know what the differences will be here if i use the 165/195s ?

The original stock wheels are narrow to fit them per tire manufacturer specs. If the tire shop is willing to fit them then I guess just know that. Not exactly sure the consequences that could happen....

My winter tires are are the 155 front, 175 rear I went up to 185/55 front 205/50 rear. So size should be ok but are the new tires just for summer or will they be your winter tires. Because then it's about ordering the tires you truly want not just what in Stock.

I would go for 165/60R15 front and 185/55R15 rear, rather than 165/60R15 front and 195/50R15 rear.

This keeps things close to stock, ie. +10mm increase in width.

The European Toyoto Aygo/Peugeot 108/Citroen C1 fit 165/60R15 to 4.5J rims, and the European VW Up!/Skoda Citigo/Seat Mii fit 185/55R15 to 5.5J rims. So fitting these tyre sizes to these rim widths is perfectly normal.
