I would to thank the person who replied to my starting problem it was the alternator. I had to use a socket and crank it around many times to get it loose
enough to turn over. When I got it started it made noise for a least 1/2 a min.
then stopped and has not made a sound you can hear over the engine again.
The first question I have is how long will it be before I have to replace the alternator. Second Question is does any one have any idea why the car shuts
off with no clear reason. one time at a stoplight one in a parking lot one driving down the road. the time driving was different on all of them. anybody got any ideas ?????

its a bearing in the alternator that is making the noise.. if you ever get it out .. it can be repaired .. the alternator simply taken apart and bearing pressed off.. if you let it go and the bearing waddles out the housing.. you are screwed.. and will have to get a new one..

as for shutting down.. a bit more information is needed.. if your voltage is getting borderline .. that would be one clue.. battery, bad ground, and a number of other things... but without knowing more.. tough to diagnose ..
steveg...

oh yea forgot this..." moved to 450 forum for better EXPOSURE."... LOL
