2009 Cabriolet top (Re: protective treatments)

Salesman suggested that I buy a conditioner for the top to my new Passion Cabriolet. Went to a auto supply store to purchase, and their sales person told me that it was not necessary for a new car, and to wait a year or so to see how the top is affectedd by the weather. Manual does not address this issue. Has anyone else treated their top soon after purchase

The Porsche folks are quite fond of RaggTopp, and I'll probably order some to treat All Ball's top once the spring arrives.
