does fan make noise when it is on high? or all speeds? i have a 2009 passion i bot last feb and the fan makes loud noise sometimes, not always when on high. i turn it down one, and it's ok. sometimes on high is no problem. it is skitzo i think. 6900 miles wow. i thought mine at 12k was low. it is, but, yours is like new, or newest.
My '09 Brabus coupe has just under 5,100 miles from new. There are lots of us out there keeping them nice for the next owner.
Yes, the entire front of the car needs to be removed to replace the fan. I had to replace mine after driving through high water, as it was making a terrible roaring and/or screeching noise. I bought the part through the dealer and iirc, it was around the $200 mark.
There are 2 fans that can be considered as A/C fans, one inside the car which is also shared with the heating system, and the radiator fan which is turned on constantly when the A/C is set at max cooling. Normally when the radiator fan goes bad, or the mount for the fan gets damaged, You notice it when the A/C is first turned on.

The fix for this is to replace the fan, or the radiator support, which means the complete front end of the car (radiator support) needs to come off. A second method is to leave the broken fan in place and add a second fan in front of the radiator pak, wiring it in the current fan wiring and run that one. It takes much less time and effort, but requires a bit of fabrication to mount it. I have done this on a few cars with much success. When done, you can't see the change and it is perfectly silent. Cost for the aux fan is around $70 and about an hour or so of labor.

If the fan noise is inside the car, (blower motor) and it only makes noise at a specific speed, the fan can be removed by a simple disconnection of the wires, and pressing a plastic tab, rotating the motor slightly and it comes out. Located just above where your foot sits on the gas pedal. Could be something fell in the housing, or a damaged fan blades. easy replacement. If it doesn't work at all on one speed setting, it also could be a resistor pack, which is also located near the blower motor.

was gonna try & get 5000.00 for it
well, best fix it and hurry...as when word is out and it is, that they aint gona be in the usa any more....the bottom will fall out...or is on it's way. i found that out with the mini cooper in 1967 when they stopped bringing that to the usa. i scooped them up cheap. (wish i had kept a cooper s or two...as they become rare in another ten yrs)....when the bottom drops out i gettem cheap, if you hold them for a decade or two, they go up. that 1967 i bot on the cheap , less than 2500 and they sold new at 3800...well, today a good one is 30k. but, today is 50 yrs later. everything is to the moon now on cool cars of the 60s. i will have my eye out for a barabus and a passion convertible. already got a police car. lol

Like you, I have no intention of ever selling it. When I die, my daughter who hates it, will probably sell it to the first person with more than 100 bucks in their pocket. >:D

By the way.....it is BRABUS, not barabus….:)
Yep Vega, Pinto, Pacer, Gremlin, Maverick, Dart...or Any old 4 door sedan. Just think if your 40 years old now, in 50 years you'll be 90 years old and Maybe the car will be worth more than you paid for it.
I maybe wrong, but I don't think it will be worth any more than it is today. Convertibles' maybe worth a little because the top comes down.
The smart was never a cool car, cute yes, cool never.
Good Luck with the repair and sale.
Please keep us updated.
Take care
good for you. put in the will that the smart has to cherrished or the will be revolked and all and everything goes to the lil sister of the poor, who also get the smart car to use religiously
