Just bought my 2010 smarty & had some questions.
The prev owner said you can loosen 4 bolts and remove the roof. Is this true? Could I have done this on my 08?

Also, the new car doesn't chirp when I lock & unlock it where the old one did. Is there an option to program this or does my new car just not have a chirper?

Wow.....The previous owner was either clueless or outright lied. The roof is not designed to be removable....

As for the chirp, no factory alarm system, no chirp.

The chirp indicates a factory alarm, which not all cars had. Is there an icon on your switch panel, with a car hanging on a hook?
As for the roof, I'm also assuming this is a cabriolet? If so, yes the roof is held on by 4 bolts. Although I've heard it can be removed while up, its certainly more manageable with it fully retracted.

The alarm system just beeps when you use the fob to lock or unlock the car - all covered in the owners manual.

Could break the adhesive bonds and replace with Velcro. Watertightness might be compromised. lol

I like that, replace with Velcro. Just don’t drive down the highway with that. I can see that roof flying off. The only chirp, I’d ever heard. Is backing over a squirrel.

No bolts, no factory chirp.

The industrial strength plastic stuff would need a crow bar in that amount. lol
