For anyone buying the Metra Turbo Wire Harness adapter from Smart Madness, or other sources (Part Number 70-1783) Be advised it will not work out of the package. Apparently smart moved some wires around.

You will need to relocate the Orange (Dim) and Red (IGN) wires to land into the car's correct spots.

You can use a small jewelers screwdriver, slipped down along the side of the harness pins to remove the wires.

You will see I moved the orange wire between the black and yellow, and the red wire is now next to the black.

2012 ForTwo Factory Wiring Pin Out

After having to adapt a wiring adapter kit for a 2012, which apparently smart moved some wires around in this year, I figured I'd post what I found as the wiring of the factory harness:

There are 2 plugs.. One is for power, the other is for the speakers. If you look on the plugs, you will see numbers on the connector next to each lead.

Speaker harness:

1: Blue = Rear Right +
2: Brown/Blue = Rear Right -
3: Pink = Right Front +
4: Brown/Pink = Right Front -
5: Violet = Left Front +
6: Brown/Violet = Left Front -
7: Yellow = Left Rear +
8: Brown/Yellow = Left Rear -

Power harness:

1: Brown/Black = Unknown (I was unable to identify this)
2: No connection
3: No connection
4: 2x Red/Blue = Const 12v + Battery
5: 2x Black = Amp Power
6: Blue/Gray = Dimmer
7: Black/Gray = 12v + Ignition
8: Brown = Ground -

Hope this helps others out, I saw a lack of 2012 info.. Be advised, this is only verified for 2012.. I don't know what any other model year uses..

Help!!! Factor wiring harness and aftermarket goodies

Hey guys, I need some install advice for those who have put in aftermarket amps and speakers.

I am installing an aftermarket head unit (JVC KW-NSX1) which I have on order along with some replacement front speakers (Polk DB6501 components) and will be also adding some rear speakers for fill (Polk DB651s) and a sub. I will be using an Audiobahn A5005J 5 channel amp that I got pretty cheap on Amazon.

I plan on using the front, rear, and subwoofer pre-outs on the deck and will run new speaker wiring instead of using the factory wires. If I use the aftermarket wiring harness for the power, remote, etc..., can I just cap off the factory speaker leads and not use them or just cut off the harness and wire the power, remote, and stuff directly?

I was installing my new radio in my 2013 Smart until I got to the turbowire harness and found that I am one wire short. the picture of the harness shows 2 extra wires but mine did not have them in the package. I need 6 wires in the power block but only have 5. HELP
had a senior moment. just had to move one wire. I did find out that I needed an adapter for the antenna to power the antenna amp., Had real reception problems with AM stations. I will be installing the adapter tomorrow, really hope it works.

Installed a new Multimedia Double din with Android 4.0

Thanks for all this good info, I installed my Double Din after market Radio, Gps, DVD, Bluetooth, etc unit today, could not have done it with the information of switching the wires to match. I purchased an Android 4.04 unit for $339.00 on ebay, got all the face plates and bezel from Smart Madness, but I was able to use the wiring harness that came with the unit from Ebay, just moved some wires around in the connector and it works great.

help with a couple of plugs

I'm very grateful for finding this thread. I tried to install a Sony CDX-E3100 using the same adapter harness others have used. Thanks for the info about changing the two wires.

What did you do with the two extra plugs? One, has a blue plug and was installed in the outboard side of the C plug. And, the other is a small orange pin plugged into the bottom, middle of the Mobis unit.

Does anyone know if they must be used? Thanks.

Installed Metro 70-1783 in 2013 SMART. My JVC KD-X330BTS keeps rebooting every three seconds.
That kit is listed for smart from 2008 to 2015. Wrong. Wiring for 2008 to about 2010 is different for a couple of wires in the power plug. You need to recheck your wiring by function. I seem to remember the power and illumination wire locations were different but it has been so long I can't remember.
