My 2013 Smart fortwo (Brabus, Conv) just would not go - move - turn over ... until I waited 10 minutes or so. At first; turned off and it froze in gear. NOTHING I did 'fixed it". But shortly after waiting at the stop sign, magic - it started and i drove home. Local repair shop says it may be in a program thats new. therefore Im going to MB next week. Any ideas why this may happen?

If everything died including all the dash lights and all I would suspect a bad connection at the battery as in a terminal. Could be the ground strap that fastens to the body in the battery compartment. A bad connection heats up from the arcing and you lose connection. Then when it cools down after a short while you can have continuity again. Corrosion and rust is usually the culprit. Might be other issues but I would check that first because it costs nothing to clean the connections and it is good preventative maintenance. DCO
