I believe that Jimmy still lives in N-LV. I have also heard rumors that he has sold his smart, but this is unconfirmed. I doubt that he would be interested in doing another Jam on the Dam event as he seems to be pursuing other interests.

After five years of doing the Watkins Glen Rally, the last one bummed me out. 2 people showed up, we missed the connect point, and gave up on the day. The first four years went from 8 people, to 12 to 18 to 16. Should have seen the bell curve. :p

To note, Smart Marketing out of Boston Ma in 2012 sent a bucket load of goodies to the Rally the 1st year, and the 2nd year, Buffalo trailered in an ED for us to test. Both very cool experiences. I could certainly dig through my little black book and see who might help in an event if it lands in the East.

Rambling side story time...

Had briefly considered selling my little EuroPulse, but can't bare to let it go. There's a Monte Carlo in the area I would give a ton for, but I won't relegate the Smart to sitting outside. However, I digress...

Had a ton of fun at those rallies. I'd make a drive to a big 10 year bash. On the flip side, I won't be doing The Glen this year. I actually need to contact my successor to see if he's still interested in giving it a go. I'd attend, but as far as organizing, I just can't find the time.

Someone give me a reason to love this car again! Mercedes sure isn't!

120 smarts Showed up for JAM ON THE DAM ll...

120 smarts Showed up for JAM ON THE DAM ll was a great event.
And this wasn't even a National Event.
I don't think we will ever see 120 smarts in one place again. The novelty has worn off.
For those who weren't there or are just hearing about it, watch some of the YouTube videos.

Jam on the Dam:

We were at both Jam on the Dams as well as the Bash on the Bridge along with a lot of other So Cal Smartie members. All of these events were a blast & sadly, the way things are now, will never be repeated again.
The caravan that you saw in the video was the joining of the So Cal Smarties and the Las Vegas smarties coming together on Interstate 15 in the middle of the desert. That was so much fun and I always like seeing the U-tube video again.

120 smarts JAM ON THE DAM ll
The day before the "Jam" I drove down to Buffalo Bills casino in Primm from the South Point Casino with a cameraman in my smart cabrio. to meet up with the group from California.
I sold my first smart and went back to riding motorcycles when Bash on the Bridge came around.

We were there for that meet-up of the two groups as well. It was right after a huge rainstorm and the freeway on-ramp was flooded. Jimmy ran all the way up to the top of the parking structure to get an aerial shot of all of the smart cars in the parking lot. Great times and the most fun I have ever had with a car and the people that I have met.

Judging by the response I have witnessed by the dealerships, smart has always been the "redheaded step child" of the Mercedes flagship. Sad smart didn't do better in the marketplace. It seems to me that I am seeing more smarts than ever before on the road on a bright note. I think doing something around the National Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio might be fun. Plenty of parking and plenty to do in the area. Just a thought.

I am going to talk to Kamaal @ West Covina & see if they are interested in doing a 10 year celebration of smart in the US. Only other ideas I have are maybe to do a Jam on the Dam, III. I saw Jimmy a week ago and he is not interested in doing a sequel to the 3 events that he hosted. If an event like this were to happen, it would have to be funded by the attendees or a benefactor as smartUSA & the smart aftermarket parts vendor that is still around no longer seem to show interest. It costs $$ to get the special police force in charge of the dam to close it for 15 minutes as well as putting a photographer up in the helicopter. The event could be done a little differently to save costs by taking a drive around Lake Mead & possibly some other scenic drives in the Las Vegas valley.

Bob, go ahead and book January 21st (Sunday) as a 10 YEAR celebration of smart in the United States. Details TBD.

Telepathy, obviously! Come on now! :D

Seriously though, not everyone is Internet savvy. I bet there are probably thousands of smart owners out there who think that their dealer still sells petrol smarts.
