Ok... Finally got the right front wheel bearing replaced, I got a used steering knuckle and replaced the whole assembly cheaper than a bearing and having it pressed in.

My grandson was in the car while I was working and managed to start the car, and it scared him so he immediately shut it off before it even started. Now turning the key on, I get the 3 lines and no start (of course)When trying to re-learn the trans, i get nothing. No clunks or any noises. Batt voltage is 12.11 so I put a charger on it, and disconnected the ground. I plan on letting it sit for an hour or so thinking it will clear the computers.

Any other ideas??

More info... car does go out of park, shifting to neutral still doesn't start. disconnecting battery for 1 1/2 hours didn't change anything. Charger still connected. Brake lights do work with pedal.

strange thing is the grandson started it about an hour before I finished and shut it off, removing the key before it stopped running.

Maybe the shifter?? I noticed I don't need to put the brake on to shift out of park, maybe I never did. could be he damaged it when he freaked out that the motor started.

The battery was connected as I did nor remove anything electrical when replacing a wheel bearing (front end suspension)
turning the key to the start position, I get 3 beeps like the door is open

I'm afraid I have way way less experience than you...

But the shifter in the wrong position, ie not park or N, will not prevent the engine from turning off immediately once the key is turned CCW from the ON position. Early in ownership I actually accidentally turned off the engine on the freeway (thankfully stopped in traffic), but could not restart it in my panicked state to get going when traffic in front of me cleared.

I do hope it's the cheaper of the two possibilities for you!...

well when I take it out of park, it does roll on it's own so I don't think it is stuck in a gear, but something may have broke like a gear change motor or the shift itself. Next step is to pull the console apart and see what is in there I guess.

Getting tired of all the details to keep this critter running... maybe time to change to something else???

Played a bit more this morning. Charger left on overnight, Battery voltage is 12.46 volts. I double checked and it does NOT come out of park without pressing the brake pedal. 3 lines still there, attempting the re-teach does nothing. Starting to wonder the condition of the clutch actuator as it does not make any noise at all when moving the shifter or when the key is activated.... I do hear a relay click when I turn to start position with the key. No codes on the Scangauge...(not surprised)

Getting too old for this....

Hey Jim
just thinking out loud here, you said when the motor started it startled him, and he turned it off and removed the key before the engine stopped.
Maybe the alarm system thinks the car has been hijacked, and it has immobilized it.
Use the key fob to lock/unlock the doors, do another relearn, lock/unlock again, and give it a try!
I will be surprised if this works, but you never can tell unless you try.

Reminds me of when I triggered the immobilizer on mine the other day, same as yours it just wouldn't start. I would put the key in the ignition and turn it and nothing, weird part is then transmission indicator would not show up on the dash. No P, D, N or R, nothing in place where it supposed to be. So I disconnected the battery for 15 min. Then Reconnected it. I turned he key, I got the 3 blinking lines while the transmission cycled through the gears, before it turned on and everything returned to normal. You may have triggered your immobilizer, as mentioned before.

I had the battery disconnected for an hour with the same results. no codes or key light. Gonna try cycling through the remote door locks a few times and see if that changes any thing

Might be time to let someone else have a turn on this. It would be too bad as there are a LOT of new stuff on this one. New tires, (less than 1K miles) new front wheel bearing, ED shocks and springs, Sway bar links, etc.

Hopefully I can get in there to check fuses in the morning, but I doubt I could be that lucky...

When my clutch actuator broke had all the same symptoms.
Might check all the fuses.
Might check if there's voltage to the starter and have someone try to start it and check to see if there's voltage to starter solenoid when trying to start.
