Does anyone have any idea how much these bolts normally sell for New or how much they are worth? All I know is that they are VERY handy to have when doing engine work besides routine maintenance. Could four threaded rods be used instead or should I just pay up?

If you can find them, I believe they cost close to $100.00 from Mercedes-Benz. You should be able to use all thread with nuts and flat washers. You might also be able to source the bolts by checking with a local fastener store.

So since I own two 451's and one 450 I thought it wise to have a set of these on hand. I'm sure I paid too much for them but the seller claims that they are OEM from MB/Smart and unused still in the original packaging. Hopefully the day will come when I can say it was the BEST money I ever spent! Thanks for providing the old threads. They were helpful. Where is the Florida Smart party?

I just ordered a set of these off eBay myself. Between this and the rapid jacks from Costco I'm pretty set for being able to drop my own subframe.

Portable hydraulic lift that runs off 120v. It's a pair of rails that you slide under the pinch molding and connect them together. It'll lift about 4-5' Costco sells them for just under $1k and they lift about 4500lbs
Sounds like a time saver but right now it's cost prohibitive for me. I had a hard time parting with the dough for the bolts. Floor jacks and jack stands will have to do for now. Add a good MB star code reader and you're ready to open a Smart repair shop!

Yeah. I spent about an hour today trying to figure out what EXACTLY I would need for an MBstar system. I'm pretty nervous about having to service my vehicle because nobody near me will have the tools, so I will.

I think people lately are either too lazy or distracted to learn the skill set required.

I tried teaching my nephew how to do basic car maintenance and I might as well have been talking to a dolphin for all the good it did.

Oh I know! Apparently it is a generational dilemma. They seem to be adept with media devices and video games but getting their hands dirty is a bit out of their comfort zone. Unfortunate in many ways. Keeping a vehicle road worthy is NOT an inexpensive venture. Saving $$$ often requires a DIY approach. I think passing through the world prior to cell phones and the Internet was a character building experience. Social media back then was a pocket full of dimes and a pay phone. I can't imagine what people did before then? A campfire and a wet blanket?
