Howdy everyone!

So I have googled, search this forum and evolutions site and my results have been nill... lol

I have an ‘09 and got the P0410 code so I looked in engine bay and have a vacuum hose nipple busted off. I live in a non emissions area and have thoughts of a turbo in the future so instead of buying a egr control valve I’m interested in reading a system delete write up and buying what ever parts needed say, block off plate, resistor thing and some plug stuff.

Any help with direction, links and or parts to buy would be fantastic!

Thank you so much for your time...

Should be really easy to remove the air pump and block off the inlet. Would be nice to not have to listen to the air pump run every time you fire up the car cold.

It will trip a check engine light if you do not put some sort of resistance to the connector though. The euro cars with the turbo do not have this emission system.

Thanks for the response. I was just wondering if anyone knew of tech column or write up about do it? What parts are needed and perhaps where to get them? I drive my car every day so I want to have all my ducks in a row so when I tear into it in the evening I can accomplish the task completely.

...haven't had that system for 9 years now...it used to throw the 0410 for a few months and I kept clearing it up until it just kind of said " if you don't care I don't care"... never pop back again....

Jetfuel....recirculating gases...

Most excellent! Do you have a link or tips on removing the system? Where to get a block off plate, what plugs are needed and how to get the system to think it’s still working so I don’t have to run with a check engine light? :)

I believe that a resistor in place of the air pump will not prevent the CEL. The ECU will look for the O2 signal to lean out when the pump is activated. The CEL might not log right away, but eventually will. I think that the pump has to be tuned out via remapping the ECU.

Good luck, please keep us posted on your solution.

Not sure how it works on the smart or if it has a resistor in line with it or not(still would need masking if didn’t want the code or it will trigger the cel)
I agree about the noise from it on cool to cold days on first start(you can hear it a good distance from the car)
It won’t effect the car’s drivability but it may shorten the life of the catalytic converter.
