My 453 only came with the seatbelt through-mount(?) on the drivers seat - the thing that holds the belt off the seat at shoulder height. There's nothing on the passenger side; the belt is free to do it's own thing.

Being reasonably tall - and the driver - the mount makes life pretty comfortable. The same can't be said for my passenger - she's a good 6-8in shorter than I am and finds the seatbelt sits around neck height, which isn't so great. Right now, she's using her other arm to hold the belt off her body.

Anyone else had this issue, or found any halfway decent fixes? I'd really like to fit the same mount that's on the drivers side on the passenger side, but having pulled it apart, I'm reasonably convinced the mounting plate the covering plastics are attached to is welded to the seat back. Again, good for the driver, but not the sort of lengths I fancy going to on the passenger side.

The US model 453 have them on both sides, so the mount plate may be there. I have the opposite opinion. The guide drops the belt right in the door and my sill is all banged up from having the door closed on the belt buckle. I have pulled the belt out of the guide.

Thanks folks.

Mark - we've got some Smart branded versions of those things. Whilst they make the belt more comfortable, they don't do anything for the geometry, which I'm pretty sure is the real issue.

Dude - I've had a good squeeze of the foam on the passenger side seat in the space where the plate would be and there's nothing there. Not entirely surprised - as you'll know the welded mount is fairly agricultural and I suspect it would end up cutting through the foam and seat cover with the movement of the passenger.

Meantime, I've ordered a couple of clips that should move the point where the lap and chest sections of the belt separate, so we'll see how we get on with those. Would still prefer a more robust solution but the design of the pillar mounted holder isn't really conducive to modification.

Wondering if a strap connecting the shoulder to lap belt could help, limiting how far the shoulder belt can go up.
