The mechanic found out why the ABS light stays on for my 2008 Smart For Two: it was full of water.
The water had corroded the pins in the connecting cable. When he pulled the connector cable off the ABS module, one of the pins had corroded so much it remained in the connector on the end of the cable.
They are telling me it's over $2300 to replace the ABS module & cable.
1. Is it an OK option to find & install a used ABS module & connecting cable?
2. Has anyone else found their ABS module full of water?

ALLDATAdiy.com show the price for the Electronic Brake Control Module as $835.00 so finding working used one should lower the price quite a bit. :)

FWIW, one of the online Mercedes parts places shows the control module at $1,176.00......Part # 451-900-37-02

Used ones are on a lot of used car websites for less than $100.
I wonder if they are reliable?

They are on a lot of high mileage smarts and don't seem to be a problem so I'd take the chance for $100....:)
