I just serviced my Roadster, changing sparks (6), air filter and fuel filter, after driving a bit, just press all the way accelerator, all of the sudden, engine light on, even I don?t have enough power, it didn?t get enough power to run from stop position. Also changing gear get more delay, turbo sound different, anyone can help me? Any suggestion! What cuase this issue! I am so sorry! As the Roadster hasn?t enough power on engine!!! Many thanks

If you are able to access a scan tool at a local shop, you can discuss the various code or codes that you receive from the tool, with the person assisting you. They should be able to steer you in the proper direction, but it will likely begin with using the scan tool first.

Not too many roadsters in the USA, but we do have some Canadian and European members that might be a bit more familiar with the earlier engines used on the roadsters.
Personally I would love to have a roadster!!

Unfortunately the cost of getting one into the USA ends up being prohibitive with all the updates and modifications that would need to be done for the government to be satisfied and allow it to be driven on the road. Our only hope is that they will still be around when the restrictions are eased off as the car becomes ld enough to bypass their rules.

Almost everything has to be changed including headlights, bumpers. speedometers, gas tank, etc.That makes the cost of a reasonably priced car go up to about the price of a new model, or higher. Work can only be done by a licensed importer. If it is not done correctly, the government will confiscate the car and destroy it (you don't get your money back either)

Oops that?s awful, I?m living in London, well we don?t have much problem, but in your case is awful!!! Hopefully will be fine soon. Is there any specific reason for Smart Roadster! To drive in US!! By the way is small car with small engine. Very reasonable to dive in city

Usually when you get a engine check light. That's any modern vehicle. There's something serious wrong with your engine management. If you haven't got any power. The engines gone, into its limp mode. So you won't destroy the engine. You need to take it to a smart specialist, or competent automotive technician. They will be able to pull some codes, defining the problem. I personally wouldn't drive your car. Have it towed.

If there were no issues prior to your work, it is quite logical some of your work has been performed incorrectly. Confirm fuel filter is installed correctly and spark plugs are correct type and have correct gap. Did you fail to reconnect some wiring.

As other posters have said you really need a workshop equipped with the ‘MBstar’ reader & software to interrogate the car’s computer. That said sometimes strange things happen, after mine was serviced once 24Hrs later the engine warning light came on (but there were no other power-loss symptoms). Drove 45 mins. back to the mechanic, turned out it needed a teaspoon more brake fluid in the reservoir, no more issues after that.

If there were no issues prior to your work, it is quite logical some of your work has been performed incorrectly. Confirm fuel filter is installed correctly and spark plugs are correct type and have correct gap. Did you fail to reconnect some wiring.

I was trying to be next to them when they are changing it, it was difficult for him to changed sparks on bottom side, I?m not sure if they did correctly or not! But I went there they put a computer and then clear codes! Again it happens today !!!

Cylinder 1 misfire is the code appears after I service the Smart Roadster. Changing sparks and fuel filter, air filter and oil filter. Still car has poor power and engine sounds so bad. I am so disappointed ... if anyone has any suggestions please let me know . I love this tiny car and I don?t want to loss it. I was planning to wrap it and do something on turbo also other things but this cylinder 1 misfire stopped me for everything...

I’ve seen bad intake gaskets cause cylinder misfire faults. I have not replaced one in a Smart, but for other vehicles, replacement is typically not difficult or costly. YMMV.

I would remove the spark plugs from #1 cylinder and make sure the spark plugs are not cracked or the gap is not closed from dropping the spark plug.
