How detailed were the operating instructions you got? My directions were poorly written (or translated) on a tiny piece of folded paper in what looked like -.3 text. Reading it was a chore.
I only needed a coolant temp display but it also shows voltage in the progress bar. I seldom do more than glance at the temp.
I did the beepectomy because my adult children sometimes drive the car and in trying to turn off the beep would scramble the settings so it didn't work as a temp gauge. Resetting, at least for me involved considerable head scratching, talking and cursing to myself.
Another quirk with the Autool x60 is that occasionally I have to unplug/plug the USB cable to wake it up.
There seems to be a more extensive variety of these devices available since I bought mine, 2-3 years ago. It does appear to have the same mounting bracket as pictured by IowaSmart451and wmf2008.

yep, the instructions are on a tiny piece of 4 part folded paper. other than parading down through the setting menu and clicking on the various items in order to see what is available there are no specific instructions, BUT once you master the rocker switch the obvious things are pretty easy

knock on wood (plastic), i have had no problems so far.... i have MPH (accurate) in the big window and voltage (14) and water temp (194) in the line below and the time (24 hour clock) at the very bottom

Yep, I don't really get that rocker switch thing. I just looked at my gauge it shows coolant temp in large type, one of the small numbers is coolant temp too, the other is voltage (either battery or alternator output?). Any tips on how to use the rocker switch?

I still can't find the manual. The rocker is basically 3 positions: straight down changes screen layout, or if held for a little bit gets you into the menu. Rocker right of left changes goes up or down through the list of settings, then when you've selected a setting, changes the setting. On the main screen moving the rocker left runs you through the choices on the left of the display, to the right does the same on the right side.

I purchased the AUTOOL X60 Car OBDII Scanner Digital Meter, purely to be able to see what temperature the car is running at.
This particular one can also be used to run obd tests for any fault codes and depending on what type of code it can reset it.
Amazon UK do not have them in stock at the moment, but a quick Google search should find one.
I think it cost around £45.
Here is a link for instructions and every thing it can do.

just received my newest, installed and works fine. also stumbled on the way to turn off the outer band of lights: once you have it programmed and operational, toggle the rocker switch right or left and parade through the settings. doesn't seem like you can turn them off withall settings options, but it can be shut off with the settings (but not in the setup 'settings'

that said; i have mine set up for speedometer, water temp, battery voltage and clock. what should the ranges be for voltage and temp?

I have mine set so MPH is in the center, coolant temp and voltage underneath, and RPM at the bottom. My voltage normally reads around 14.2 volts when engine is running, coolant temp is around 185 degrees. I still can't remember how I turned off the lights around the perimeter; I just tried going through settings a little bit ago and don't remember what I changed.

here's how i stumbled on it....

after the setup of the parameters i wanted to watch and having cycled through several starts/stops to see if it was working i decided to fiddle with the top mounted rocker switch as you know, the switch pushes down/in and also rotates right and left

with the car running and displaying the values i chose i rotated the switch right and left without pushing down. this parades the display through the various screens available to see without changing the initial setup setting, one or more of which turns off the perimeter lights BUT i THINK has a different set of viewable display values...
