I know several members have had issues with the antipollution fan/blower failing. Here I am talking about the blower that runs when you first start a cold Smart especially in cold weather. You can hear it run for a few seconds.

This has also quit on my Smart and no longer runs when I start the car. It also triggers an engine light signal.

How much does it cost to repair this at a Benz dealer? Also how is this blower driven, belt? or via electric motor? I think probably electrically but am not sure.

It is the same thing.

M-B will likely charge you $100 or $200 to change the $30 part.

I think you're being generous. I bet it's a $400 part, and they will charge $250 to put it in...

Anybody checked out the size of the wires going to this thing? They are HUGE. It must draw a boat load of amps when it's running... Next to the starter, I think it's the largest wires in the engine bay...
