I hate the Jenson in my new to me 451 and will replace it soon. I think I want to try a CarPlay unit, please no Flames. The Alpine unit has wireless CarPlay and since most of my smart trips are only to and from the trail heads around North Central Florida not bothering to plug in my iPhone is a BIG plus. So if anyone has already done it please let us know how the install went and how does the iLX-007 perform?

Well I guess I can answer my own question... NO. Anyway I just ordered an Alpine iLX-007 from Crutchfield and am looking forward to installing it. I will update this thread when it arrives if anyone is interested. Let me know.

The Alpine looks great,,,only missing Sirius/XM.
I so old that I have a hard time getting my head around the idea of paying for TV let alone radio:) I did have it for free for a year in my Abarth 500c and really never used it. I prefer the tunes on my computer and phone. The fact the Alpine is the only one currently with wireless connection to the iPhone made my decision. At my stage in life I only use a car for short trips so I jump in, turn on and drive a short time. Connecting the phone was just another step that I didn't ' need. Any longer trips and my wife and I take the motorhome.

I'm looking at this one siri-ously for our 2015. Let us know more about it. I've read all the online reviews but would like to know if you have any tips that relate to the smart.
I posted about my install back last month here:http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/f4/looking-appleplay-radio-look-alpine-ilx-007-a-147530/. I love the upgrade. CarPlay is great, the map function works well. One of the best things is that you can see the screen even in direct sunlight with the top down. Every other model I looked at washed out. The backup camera function is also very useful for any Cab owner that has the top down. I was lucky my car already had a back up camera installed so I didn't need to run wire to the back. I posted a couple of tips to help out in the thread above. Great update. go for it.:D

I've been happy with Alpine in general....

I would caution people that some of the CarPlay capable stereos out there (like a Pioneer I recently considered) are still having compatibility problems with iOS 11. Pioneer actually tells people to stay on iOS 10 on their phones and tablets until they get it resolved. (Not an option here, as I updated to iOS 11 a while ago aleady!)

Not a problem with this unit as I'm running the current OS on an iPhone X.
